Dr. Esterline grew up in East Texas and is a proud alumnus of Texas A&M University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 1996, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2000.
Her professional journey began with rotating small animal internships at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ, and the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Esterline then pursued a Small Animal Surgery Residency at Kansas State University, completing it in 2005 alongside a Master of Science degree.
In 2006, she relocated to San Antonio to join South Texas Veterinary Specialists, where she became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. She continued her work there until the organization transitioned to BluePearl, remaining until 2020.
Afterward, Dr. Esterline engaged in meaningful work with local non-profit organizations, including SNIPSA, SNAP, and ACS, for 2-3 years while preparing to launch her own private surgical specialty hospital: South Texas Veterinary Surgery (STVS), which opened in September 2023.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Esterline is a devoted pet owner to two poorly behaved small dogs, a relatively controlling cat, and the world’s best bunny. In her free time, she enjoys running and cherishes moments spent with her family. While she has a passion for all types of surgery, she has a particular affinity for thoracic and oncologic procedures.
